Offshore Companies
Offshore or Offshore company – terminology.
Word Offshore (offshore company) can be used for any company registered outside the country where business takes place. For example, a German company is an offshore for France.
Nowadays word Offshore as well as Offshore Company is primarily used for companies registered in so called Offshore-jurisdictions – international offshore financial centers. Usually legislation in such jurisdictions allows registration of special type of non-residential companies that are not supposed to run a business inside of the country (like IBC - International Business Companies). Such companies (registered in offshore centers) normally do not pay taxes in the country of registration and very often are not burdened with annual reporting.
